Overview

El Librero Abaceria, nestled in the heart of Sevilla’s Casco Antiguo, is a culinary treasure that artfully blends the rich tradition of Andalusian cuisine with a touch of literary charm. Located at C/ Ximénez de Enciso, 2, this intimate restaurant invites guests to indulge in authentic Spanish flavors delivered with warmth and attention to detail.

The menu, while focused, is thoughtfully curated and showcases standout dishes such as the Tabla de Quesos and the Quatro Queijos Espanhóis, which highlight Spain’s diverse cheese heritage. These selections are complemented perfectly by a fine array of local wines and artisanal spirits, indulging connoisseurs and casual diners alike.

One of the defining experiences here is the tapas with a twist—each dish carries a nod to Spanish literary giants like Cervantes and Luis Gongora, enriching the meal with cultural depth. The Chicharron de Cadiz, a slow-cooked pork belly accented with olive oil and sea salt, offers a subtle yet satisfying departure from the typical crispy variety. Meanwhile, the spinach with chickpeas stands out as a masterclass in balance—simple, unpretentious, and perfectly seasoned. This dish resonates deeply, often becoming a benchmark for visitors across their culinary journeys in Spain.

El Librero’s paella is another highlight, receiving consistent praise for its rich, seafood-forward nuances and generous portions. The atmosphere complements the menu’s authenticity—the cozy, somewhat limited seating fosters a sense of exclusivity and intimacy, making it a sought-after venue for gastronomes who appreciate both tradition and refined service.

Service here is notably attentive yet unpretentious, creating a relaxed dining environment that encourages savoring every bite. Given its central location and inviting ambiance, the restaurant appeals to locals and travelers who seek genuine Sevillian flavors without distraction. While the space is small, the quality of the food and the considerate hospitality make any wait worthwhile.

In essence, El Librero Abaceria stands as a subtle ode to Sevilla’s culinary and cultural heritage—where dishes tell stories and every meal feels like a carefully crafted chapter written in flavors. For those embarking on a journey through Andalusian cuisine, it’s a must-visit that enriches the experience beyond the plate.

Happened to be our first meal upon arrival in Sevilla. While first meals tend to be easily forgotten because they're buried under a succession of meal memories, this one ended up being one of our more memorable ones. That's saying a lot considering the rich and varied tradition of Spanish cuisine. Even though the menu wasn't mind boggling in terms of range, it still required careful consideration because everything sounded great. By the way, loved the Spanish literary twist to some of the tapas names (Cervantes, Lope de Vega et al)! We ordered the Chicharron de Cadiz, spinach with chickpeas, artichokes and the "Luis Gongora", an unusual name for a simple dish of fresh tomato and tuna belly (Gongora was well known for his Baroque like intricacy and hyperbole). The chicharron variation was not the usual crispy pork belly that I've had before, but a slow cooked version lightly doused in olive oil with a sprinkling of sea salt. Tasty nonetheless. Our absolute favorite was the spinach and chickpeas! In fact we liked it so much that this dish ended up featuring in many of our Spanish meals thereafter. However this one set the bar high by not being over seasoned or salty. Service was excellent and the only downside might be the limited seating available.

The incredible options of tapas is amazing. The choices of cheese and great alcohol is equally amazing. The service was top notch. It’s small but worth the wait. Reasonable priced paella is even better.

Incredibly atmospheric restaurant with attentive and very friendly service. The food was also excellent. Both the tapas - we had spinach with chickpeas and the pimientos - and the paella were super delicious and the cheese selection was impressive. We enjoyed the evening very much and would come back anytime. Absolute highlight!

From the moment we walked in the door were welcomed and experienced exceptional service. We had some Andalusian ham, mixed cheese plate with mild and strong, and muscles. The tapas and plates were presented well, quickly served, and very delicious. I also enjoyed a nice local beer. Edit: two days later we returned to have paella - which takes time to prepare, and some pork loin and a beer while we waited. We rarely return to the same restaurant when traveling, but the food was good, service great, and nice atmosphere.
